ABOUT MPUDULLE EYE CENTRE
The main activity – Specialized Eye services – these are ophthalmological cases which are mainly pathological (diseases of the eye) with special subspecialty areas such as diseases specific to the back of the eye and front of the eye and operations that will correct effects of diseases that affect the eye.
Certain conditions affect the eye and damage the eye and vision to such an extent that restoration can only be done with meticulous microscopic surgery even then, vision is not always guaranteed but there is a chance that it can be improved effectively. There is also disease to do with the refraction of the lens which can also be restored through surgery.
Eye Services and surgery will only operate from 7 am to 4 pm. This unit will be operated as a unit with a unit manager and nurses and additionally, will have a theatre nurse.
This unit will serve at least four specialists which can be increased with time who will admit their patients daily as they operate and discharge on the same day. This unit’s ward will be the cost centre and the theatre will be another cost centre. For ophthalmic patients, the recliners serve as beds and the turnover of patients can be as many as every two hours as the patients do not need
a recovery bed.
